CAMBODIA

The Ministry of Tourism has encouraged local tour operators to increase domestic and global promotion of selling tour packages to community-based ecotourism destinations in Cambodia, while five of them in the northeastern part of the country have newly been developed and ready to receive national and international tourists, a senior official said. Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that the government will provide vocational training to 1.5 million poor youth as part of its policy for the upcoming seventh mandate. (Khmer Times)

The Japanese government will provide additional aid of over $30 million to improve the water supply system in Svay Rieng province. (Khmer Times)

LAO PDR

At least seven foreign airlines have opened flights to Laos to accommodate the growing regional tourism trade, which has made a significant recovery after Laos opened its doors to international visitors last year, a Lao Airlines operations manager has said. (Vientiane Times)

MYANMAR

Land mines and unexploded munitions injured or killed more than one person every day in Myanmar last year, the United Nations said, pointing to a 40 percent spike in casualties compared to 2021. (AFP)

VIET NAM

The South-East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 3 cable, the last fully functional undersea internet cable of Việt Nam, has encountered a problem on its S2.7 segment that connects with Singapore, Internet service providers in the country said. This means all five undersea cables connecting Việt Nam with the world have been partly or wholly disrupted at the same time, an unprecedented development. (Viet Nam News)

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has called on three major corporations, namely Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, and Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited, to ensure the efficient supply of electricity, gasoline, and coal for the country’s socio-economic development and people’s daily lives.
