Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen has stated that Cambodia, formerly known as a killing field, an unsafe area and a minefield, has now become an island of peace and a popular tourist destination. (Khmer Times)

Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday urged Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for provision of support in the implementation of a privately-invested project for exporting renewable energy from Cambodia to Singapore as the former would need to install electrical cables under Malaysia’s seabed before they are directly connected to the latter. Wildfires are burning out of control across hundreds of hectares of land in various parts of the country, with authorities struggling to extinguish the fires as the hot weather continues. Authorities are concerned that the fires, caused by farmers burning scrubland in preparation for crop planting, could worsen because of a lack of fire-fighting equipment. (Vientiane Times)

The Lao government and SINO-KCL on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a project titled “Asia-Potash International Intelligent Circular Industrial Park” in Thakhek and Nongbok districts of Khammuan province. (Vientiane Times)
