CAMBODIA

Cambodia’s total export to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership member countries amounted to $ 2.89 billion in the first four months of 2023, up 16 percent from $ 2.49 over the same period last year, the Ministry of Commerce’s latest report showed. (Khmer Times)

The environment ministry formally rolled out the five-year Partnership for Action on Green Economy Cambodia, in an affirmation of the Kingdom’s commitment towards sustainability and inclusivity in economic growth. (Phnom Penh Post)

Laos recorded a trade surplus of USD 1.39 billion in 2022, boosted by the country’s electricity exports, according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. (Laotian Times)

MYANMAR

Cyclone Mocha was one of the strongest cyclones to ever hit Myanmar, the UN aid coordination office (OCHA) in the country reported on Monday, leaving a “trail of devastation” as it moved overland from the Bay of Bengal, particularly in the city of Sittwe, capital of Rakhine State. (UN News)

VIET NAM

Cà Mau Province has strengthened efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities. Its Border Guard Command routinely works with other agencies to inspect all fishing boats. This helps promptly penalise boats that turn off their vessel monitoring system, an indication they encroached into foreign waters for fishing. (Viet Nam News)

HÀ NỘI Vietnamese businesses still have a lot to do to realise the full export potential to Japan and South Korea, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In a recent report by the ministry, the Japanese market had a GDP of US$4.1 trillion in 2022 with a population of 125 million and an annual import demand of $900 million. South Korea’s GDP was over $1.73 trillion, and an annual import demand of $731 million. (Viet Nam News)
