CAMBODIA

  • A 100-megawatt (MW) National Solar Park, a partnership between the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Electricite du Cambodge (EDC), Cambodia’s national power utility, has connected to the national grid. (Khmer Times)

LAO PDR

  • Lao Statistic Bureau (LSB), Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Thursday organised the 3rd Stakeholders Briefing on the preparation of the 5th Population and Housing Census (PHC) “Counting Everyone, Because Everyone Counts”. MYANMAR

  • Myanmar’s military has freed a number of opposition figures, as well as a former UK ambassador, a Japanese filmmaker and an Australian adviser to the country’s ousted civilian leader. The military said some 6,000 pardons were to mark Myanmar National Day. (BBC)
  • Cambodia’s Foreign Affairs Minister and ASEAN special envoy Prak Sokhonn is planning a third official visit to Myanmar in a bid to prod the ruling military junta to comply with the grouping’s five-point peace initiative, according to Khmer Times. (Thai PBS)
