Prime Minister Hun Sen proposed to set the northwest part of Cambodia as the country’s fourth economic pole broadly to be known as the ‘fish-rice corridor’ that can be further developed potentially, while Phnom Penh, Preah Sihanouk and Siem Reap will remain as other economic poles, especially for foreign investment projects. The Prime Minister has advised officials working in the natural resource and environment sectors across the country to follow lines of direction according to the country’s overall socio-economic development needs. (Vientiane Times)
