LAO PDR

The cabinet has issued an order for urgent action to tackle air pollution following the rise of particles with a diameter of 2.5 microns (PM2.5) or less to unsafe levels. In its monthly meeting for March that concluded, the cabinet demanded a prompt response to prevent pollution impacting the people’s health, the economy and the tourism industry. (Vientiane Times)

MYANMAR

Australia, Japan, the UK and the US have expressed concern over the Myanmar military’s dissolution of the country’s former ruling party, warning the move could bring further instability to the violence-wracked country. (Aljazeera)

VIET NAM

Việt Nam’s gross domestic product expanded 3.32 per cent in the first quarter of 2023, the General Statistics Office said. (Viet Nam News)

The State Bank of Vietnam has instructed credit institutions in the Mekong Delta region to promote lending to rice producers and traders to help them have sufficient capital, especially in the winter-spring harvest in 2023. (Viet Nam News)
