CAMBODIA

The private sector in Cambodia has pledged to support the government’s efforts to prevent people under 18 years old from accessing alcoholic beverages. Despite being one of the few countries without a minimum Legal Purchase Age, the industry is taking steps to prevent underage drinking, harmful consumption, and promote moderate use of their products. LAO PDR

Laos registered the first ever trade surplus of 2023 in February, when exports were worth US$505 million and imports were worth US$457 million. (Vientiane Times)

MYANMAR

The UN Special Envoy for the Secretary General on Myanmar Ms. Noeleen Heyzer appears to be saddled with Mission Impossible, judging by her own words. As she told the UN Security Council last week: “With both sides intent on prevailing by force, there is no prospect for a negotiated settlement.” (Mizzima)

VIET NAM

With the amended Law on Land expected to be reviewed and approved this year, experts have been voicing their opinions and discussing measures to protect the land use rights of ethnic minorities. (Viet Nam News)

The central province of Quảng Trị is calling for funding in 80 key projects in a wide range of fields under an investment attraction plan for the 2023-25 period, with a vision until 2030. (Viet Nam News)
