LAO PDR

Leaders of Vientiane are strengthening links with the authorities of other capital cities, most recently Bangkok and Budapest in Hungary, to push for better development in the Lao capital. The Mayor of Vientiane Dr Athsphangthong Siphandone and his officials paid a working visit to Bangkok in Thailand to discuss ongoing and future areas of cooperation. (Vientiane Times)

MYANMAR

The UN launched Tuesday an appeal for $333 million in emergency funding for 1.6 million people it said were affected after deadly Cyclone Mocha tore through Myanmar. (Daily Star)

As a clearer picture emerges of the trail of destruction left by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar and Bangladesh, humanitarians are continuing to provide life-saving assistance, and the need for an urgent increase in funding. (UN News)

VIET NAM

An inspection team from the European Commission will visit Việt Nam to examine the country’s efforts on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing prevention and control in October instead of May as announced earlier, Trần Đình Luân, Director of the Directorate of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.
