CAMBODIA

Cambodia’s remarkable decline in poverty rate is a positive step towards the Southeast Asian country’s graduation from the Least Developed Country status, a United Nations official said. The poverty rate in Cambodia has declined to 16.6 percent in 2022 from 36.7 percent in 2014, as per the 2023 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index released last week by the United Nations Development Program and the University of Oxford. Cambodia exported $4.071 billion worth of goods to the other 14 members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership in the first half of 2023, up more than 24 per cent from $3.281 billion a year ago, according to the Ministry of Commerce. (Phnom Penh Post)

LAO PDR

The Lao Prime Minister has ordered action to regulate foreign currencies to ensure that more foreign exchange earned from exports and foreign investments enter the country, while simultaneously promoting the use of the Lao kip. (Vientiane Times)

VIET NAM

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will strengthen efficiency in dealing with trade remedy cases at home and abroad in the second half of this year to protect the interests of Việt Nam’s manufacturing and exporting enterprises. (Viet Nam News)
